“God has chosen music for me. Whenever I get on stage or whenever I touch the mic, there’s this fusion, something so magical and so powerful that just flows through my body. That’s when I knew that music was my place of peace but also my gift to touch, to heal and inspire people” – Jessie Simmons
For Alesandrìa-Jessica Simon (aka Jessie Simmons), music is more than it is a hobby. Singing since the age of three years old, music has been a way of life. It’s a unique approach that allows her to connect with the world, to share the deep meaning of things and translate them into different levels of understanding. From the very first moment Jessie Simmons experienced this connection with her audience, she knew she had found her purpose.
Raised Ottawa, Ontario (Canada), Jessie was first introduced to the popular genres of Hip Hop and R&B. But instead of following the popular trends, she felt the importance to remain true to her Haitian roots and decided to use her music as a mean to proudly share her heritage instead. Throughout her musical journey, Jessie Simmons discovered the unique combination of neo-soul styled lyricism and French Caribbean zouk which ended up providing her with her unique sound. “What’s beautiful about the sounds of music Is that it’s an expression of humanity. You find music in every aspect of life. And I think I find my inspiration as a creative, by interacting with others. I find it in different spaces and places. No matter what culture we are from, we all love music.”
Throughout the course of her career, Jessie Simmons has performed across several North American cities, including Montreal, Boston, New York City and Miami and even Haiti. She has performed with many artists such as 5lan and Alan Cavé. Her hit singles “Always on my mind”, “Fly Away”, “Fantasy” and now “Wisdom” are all available on streaming platforms.
